Self-Assessment: Computer Skills
Para eLink / Web-based Training

The following is a reproduction of a notice issued to paraprofessional in The White Bear Lake School District regarding the use of computers for training, the computer's minimum technical requirements, and skills needed to complete the training.

To start paraprofessional training, you should be aware of the computer skills needed to use Para eLink. The district will provide optional computer training for paraprofessionals who are not comfortable using computers or who do not have the computer skills to use Para eLink.

The district realizes that you may not have access to a computer at home. You will be able use a computer at school. If you have a computer at home, you will need to make sure you have access to the Internet, Netscape or Internet Explorer, Acrobat Reader (this is a free program that you can download from the Internet).

The following is a list of skills that you will need to participate in the Para eLink training:

  • Turning on the computer (Mac or PC)

  • Opening up Netscape or Internet Explorer (the program used to get to the Internet)

  • Entering web addresses

  • Moving around on the Internet

  • Printing documents

  • Closing Netscape or Internet Explorer

  • Turning of the computer

If you feel you need computer training before you start Para eLink training please sign up for one of the following computer classes:
