The National Mentoring Partnership

To close the mentoring gap, the National Mentoring Partnership has identified a number of barriers that historically have prevented mentoring from being available to all who need it. Barriers include: too little support for existing mentoring efforts; duplication of efforts in some areas, while not enough initiatives in others; lack of easy access to information about how to start and maintain mentoring efforts; high attrition among mentors and would-be mentors; and not enough influence with decision makers at all levels regarding mentoring issues.
