After reviewing the criteria on the Developmental Cognitive Disability (DCD) Eligibility Worksheet (see Promising Practices for the Identification of Individuals with Developmental Disabilities manual, starting on page 57), respond to the following questions:

  1. What are the two main areas in item A and B in which the education team must show that the student meets the criteria for special education under the DCD category?
  2. What are the areas on the Eligibility Determination Worksheet for which you, as a paraprofessional, can offer the most information, observations, or experiences with students with DCD to the education team for the initial evaluation and re-evaluations?
  3. If you were asked to provide a rating on a student with DCD for whom you support in the following areas (assuming you have observed or assisted the student in an educational setting in those areas), what would your rating be and why?
